February 3, 2011, Bull Dogs. Vs. Wags at Center Ice One day after the Blizzard of 2011, the Wags General Manager Waghorn was busy calling players to make sure he had enough to field a team. When the puck dropped, there were only 2 players on the bench. When the first period ended, they were down 2-0. The only Wags player to make the score sheet was Jon "Woody" Woodring when he interfered with an opponent. Jay "Road Runner" DeMaria was busy coaching his high school team across town. When his game ended, he jumped into the back seat of his car and started undressing while his beautiful girlfriend, Anna, was driving his car through narrowed snow covered streets. Anna delivered a much needed fully dressed hockey player to Center Ice.
Jay's fresh legs were a welcome addition to the team. Just 44 seconds into the second period, Chris "Rent a Hat Trick" Murzyn cut the lead in half when he was set up by Chris Schultz and Jon "Woody" Woodring.. The Bull Dogs' 2-1 lead grew to 4-1 just 5 minutes later. That is when Anna's adroit driving paid off, because Jay scored an unassisted goal with 6:14 left to play. Woody closed out the second period with a goal that was set up by Jay with only 1:13 left in the stanza. (an assist was also given to Anna) The Bull Dogs made it 5-3 at the 12:20 mark of the third period. Five minutes later, Chris Murzyn took a pass from Jay and cut the lead to 5-4 with 7:48 left to play. (Another assist to Anna)
24 seconds later, Woody set up Murzyn's hat trick and game tying goal. Dan "The Man" Lopatka stood tall in the nets for the last 7 minutes as the Bull Dogs kept springing sneaky speedy forwards in for clean break-aways. Tom "Boston Blackie and Mike
Parker swore that they were jumping out of the penalty box.

The Wags had little chance to take the lead in the closing minutes because Jay was whistled off for roughing with 2:35 left in the game. Twelve seconds later, Woody was sent to the box

for tripping, so they had a 5 on 3 advantage for almost a full 2 minutes. Lopatka kicked out 6 shots to preserve the 5-5 tie. Waghorn was jealous. Ed just kept saying, "It's gotta be the pads" e-mail your comments to:
