The First Goal Goes to Barron!

Romeoville, IL September 11, 2015  Attendance: 21

Barron finished last season with 3 straight wins while playing goalie.  He started the new season by scoring the first goal of the season.  He fired a high hard one over the Anvil's shoulder to give Tweedy and the Whites to an early 1-0 lead.  The Czar followed that up with a shot from the point that Eddie never saw.  Tweedy was stopping everything until Joe Mazz III fired a pass from Tommy Z past him to cut the Whites lead to 2-1.  A short time later, Joe flipped a pass from behind the goal line that hit Tweedy and went

The Start of  Season # 44!

in. That fluke goal started a down hill slide, because Birdman Dan scored a pair, Bill BTW and Johnny B also scored to give the Reds a 6-2. That lead lasted until Dylan Nance showed up in the second period. Tommy Z felt sorry for his life long friend, Tweedy, so he told Dylan to go help the Whites get back in the game.  Dylan went out and scored on his first shift. His Dad reminded him that he is here to pass to older guys.  Dylan heeded his Dad's advice and set up Greg Z for 2 goals. Suddenly it was a one goal game.  Tommy finally beat Tweedy midway through the third period to give Eddie and the Reds a little breathing room until Commander Ken was in the right place at the right time and he beat the Anvil like a rented car to make it 7-6.  Tommy Z put in a late goal to seal the 8-6 victory for Anvil and the Reds.

Memorable Moments:

Many Duffers paid their $100 dues, if you were not one of them, You are late!
We had a nice turn out at the Kilt and we were given a 20% just for being handsome hockey players.

Detroit Bus Trip Highlights:

  • We will be able to see Donny's USA team play Russia on Saturday evening after we arrive. 
  • Coach Granato will have a hospitality room for Duffers with beer. 
  • We will play in the USA Rink on Sunday.
  • We will watch the Redwings play Boston on Sunday afternoon.
  • We will play in the Joe Louis Arena on Monday
  • We will watch USA U-17 play The NAHL Prospects later that Monday.
    •

  • I need a $100 deposit to reserve you a place.
