I need to make a payment for tickets to see the Redwings play Boston on February 14 then we will play in the Joe Louis Arena on February 15, 2016 at 11:00. Total cost will be $245.00 for Bus, Redwing ticket, Tee shirt, ice rental, bus beer and snacks.  You and your roommate (s) pay the room cost.  $109 plus tax includes a free breakfast.

We have room for 2 spectators on the luxury bus.

Busy Weekend in Detroit

We now have 3 full lines and 2 goalies.  I can get 43 tickets to the Redwing/Boston game, but I have to order by 1/15/2016.  Bus leaves Yorktown on Saturday February 13 at 9:00 and returns Tuesday afternoon/evening February 16.

Barron/Anvil Start 2016 with a Tie!

We have a Drinking Problem in the Junior Locker room!

Not the kind of drinking problem where liquids leak out of your mouth, but one much more worrisome.  Some of the knuckle heads in the Junior lockerroom drank all of the beers that Terry provided for post game thirst quenching.  When they came in after the game with a hockey player thirst, they realized that they screwed up, so they sent Dylan to the Senior locker room where he entered meekly with a cooler and a big white envelope. Beak asked, "What are you selling?" He said, "Nothing, Bill BTW told me to give this to you." The envelope contained 2 beautiful CN Railroad Calendars that I can trade to FTNs for favors.  I asked him what the cooler was for and he said that Bill thought those calendars should be worth 10 beers. I said, "Didn't your Dad bring any beer tonight?" He said. "He did, but the alcoholics drank them all before the game."

 I told him we could only spare 6 beers because Boris only brought a 24 pack and we love our beer after the game when it tastes best. I had a talk with the "Young guys" at the Kilt and told them that they have to learn that we play the game to work up a thirst. Why bother playing the game if you drink up all of the beer before the opening faceoff?  I suggested that they read Midnight Hockey by Bill Gaston.  Perry's Dad (Bless his soul) came to lunch about 10 years ago with a copy of that book for us to read.  The book tells you that hockey is all about the beer and the "beer guy" is the MVP.  (Boris and Terry were our MVPs that night.) There are about 15 copies of that book floating around duffer households because Mr. Gaston sent us some autographed copies after Beak contacted him and told him about the Duffers.  He loved our nicknames.  He has a chapter dedicated to the nicknames of players that he has played with. 

Record Crowd! 

T&A impressed his daughters and son in law (Pictured Above) when he scored a pair of goals. I was impressed when I looked at his fans and they were all cheering as soon as he scored. Nobody was looking at a smart phone!  They were most impressed watching Beak's great granddaughter, Carmela fly around the ice. (Pictured Below)

The Game:

The Reds tied the game with a late goal to give them a thrilling 7-7 tie.  Red Goals: V-Man 2, T&A 2, Rags 1, Bill

BTW 1 and the Czar had one.  White Goals: Cupcake 2, TZ 1 or 2, The Hammer 1, Terry's aggressive guest 1 and Doc scored when he got a nice pass from Cupcake.  I don't know who had the other one.  Maybe the Reds won!
The Czar and Bill BTW were wearing matching custom made tee shirts from their day at the Whiskey Fest. Drago didn't wear his, he may not have read the memo.

Detroit Report

Thanks to all of the guys that paid early for the Detroit Road trip.  We have 18 guys who have paid in full  You still have until January 15th to pay up.  If you do that, I will order you a ticket to the Redwing/Boston game for February 14. If you are a little short of cash now, let me know with an e-mail IOU or a call.  I have enough money now to cover the tickets and I don't need to make the Bus payment until February 1. Monet Mike gave us a preview of the great art work that he did for our Detroit Tee shirts. A few of the guys that saw it ordered extra shirts and sweat shirts.  All members of Team Detroit will get a Tee shirt free of charge.  If you want extras, Tee Shirts cost $15 and Sweat Shirts are $20

Saturday February 13: We leave Yorktown Shopping center at 9:00  Donny's USA U-17 Team plays Russia at 7:00ET at the USA Rink.
Sunday February 14: Morning Duffer Game in the USA rink. at 10:30.  At 3:00ET we watch the Redwings play the Boston Bruins
Monday February 15: 11:00 AM, Duffer Game in the Joe Louis Arena,  USA U-17 Team plays USHL at 7:00ET
Tuesday February 16:  9:00 Leave for home after our free Breakfast at the Lavonia Marriott.

If all 36 guys pay $245 = $8,820 (Income) Expenses $8,820.
36 Tickets $2,880.  Bus Rental $4,395.  Tee Shirts $540.   Ice Donation $400.  Beer $205.  Gratuities $400.
Julie, The Redwing traveling secretary will give us a tour of the Redwings' Locker room after our game on Monday.  She also got us a great price on our bus.  I want to giver her a gift card like Drago did last year.  I also want to tip Kim for getting us the rooms and Amber for getting us the tickets.  I need a volunteer to pick up the beer and bring it to the bus on Saturday Morning.
When I announced that we had room for 2 more guys, I had 3 the next day thanks to Berserk, Perry and Lou.  I'm told the checks are in the mail.

The Duffers in the Joe Louis Arena in 2015

We had a record on Thursday Night to the young Duffers challenge the not so old Duffers at Center Ice.

Tommy and Tweedy led the way to a 9:6 win over Jeff and Mike's team with 3 goals and 3 assists.

6:00: Depart Marriott to watch USA U-17 team play the Russians at 7:00 at the USA Rink in Plymouth.

10:00 Bus departs rink to go back to the Marriott.

1:30 Depart for the 3:00 Redwing game at the Joe Louis Arena.
