Duffers Hockey Schedule.  

Next Game is Friday September 30, 2016 at Canlan in Romeoville.

All games start at 8:30

We have no ice on the following dates:

We do have ice on October 14 when the Badgers play Boston College.

We had several fun filled trips to Madison.  
We watched Kevin Granato play in 2001, then partied with Keith Magnuson and Cliff Koroll. Madison Wis. 2001 We had 7 duffers packed into the Berserk Van.
 

In 1992, Wally Kraft rented a Camper and we went to see Brian Kraft who was captain of his Anchorage Alaska Team play Donny Granato who was captain of the Wisconsin Badgers who went on to win the National Championship. Only the following entry in the Duffer News remains from that trip:


 
January, 1992;   3 Duffer SODs captain their College Teams.  Brian Kraft (Anchorage Alaska)  Don Granato, (University of Wisconsin) and Dan Lopatka.  (University of Wisconsin. River Falls) All 3 players were from Downers Grove.
A dozen Duffers travel to Madison to watch Brian and Don lock horns.  The rented Camper ran out of gas on the way home.
 
I got home at sunrise and had to think of a lie that my wife would believe.  She would never believe that we ran out of gas.

Bob "Buckshot" Morgan had a great time at Brian Kraft's lodge in Alaska.

The Anvil Wins Two!

Romeoville, IL September 23, 2016  Attendance: 19

When the game started, we only had one goalie, so The Anvil had to go both ways.  He was able to beat the upside down goal net that gave up too many goals to remember.  We had a goalie malfunction 3 years ago when Fred bought $10 worth of beer for his locker room.
I remember screening a shot from Bill BTW that beat the Anvil.  I also remember having my best shot hit Terry in the leg. Greg Z and Berserk may have scored a goal or two.
Final Meaningful Score.  Reds ?, Whites ?
Memorable Moments:

  • Beak and V-Man dined alone at a table for 15 at the Kilt.  They were not invited to the "Slider Party" in the Old guy hard liquor locker room. 
  • Deana, our favorite waitress was there to greet us with hugs and she gave the Duffer Discount to GI Joe Maz who

I have had fun watching these 5 Duffers play in league at Center Ice on Tuesdays.  Tweedy and Tommy play there on Thursdays.

  • Monet Mike had a Klinger Krash when he tripped over the Anvil's Paddle. 
  • Eddie's Son Nick DeJesus also took a tumble, but he was able to avoid hitting the boards and making noise.
Perfect Attendance: Anvil, Beak, Berserk, Birdman, Doc, Fruitcake, Greg Z, Magoo,  Monet Mike, Olgi Joe and Terry . 


Klinger Report:

Bill's vision has improved enough so that he will be taking a test to renew his driver's license.  I have enjoyed being his Uber driver.  He just finished his last therapy session.

Beak and V-Man were stood up at the Kilt, but they managed to have fun.

Beak drove Klinger's truck and trailer to the quarry for a dump.

We have better attendance at the Woodridge Kilt every Wednesday.

Frank likes this Kilt because he can walk there if his car doesn't start.

We had a nice turnout at the Golf Outing.

Ken's new knees felt so good that he played on his sons' team.

Mike and Jeff got simultaneous penalties.

Tom and Dan scored 3 goals on the way to a 6-1 win.

We need to look at the picture on the right before we take our next team picture.  Line up by size, all sticks in the right hand. This was the Brooklyn Americans.

 

GI Joe showed up at the Kilt just before midnight to celebrate his Birthday.  When he saw that there were only 2 Duffers at the Kilt, He generously picked up the tab and explained that he just came from a Locker room Slider party in the Old Guys' Locker room.  In 2013, he picked up the tab for our beers at Wild Wings.  He talked Thor and Magoo to help out that time because they share the same birth date.  Thanks Joe!
