We had several fun filled trips to Madison.  
We watched Kevin Granato play in 2001, then partied with Keith Magnuson and Cliff Koroll. Madison Wis. 2001 We had 7 duffers packed into the Berserk Van.
 

In 1992, Wally Kraft rented a Camper and we went to see Brian Kraft who was captain of his Anchorage Alaska Team play Donny Granato who was captain of the Wisconsin Badgers who went on to win the National Championship. Only the following entry in the Duffer News remains from that trip:


 
January, 1992;   3 Duffer SODs captain their College Teams.  Brian Kraft (Anchorage Alaska)  Don Granato, (University of Wisconsin) and Dan Lopatka.  (University of Wisconsin. River Falls) All 3 players were from Downers Grove.
A dozen Duffers travel to Madison to watch Brian and Don lock horns.  The rented Camper ran out of gas on the way home.
 
I got home at sunrise and had to think of a lie that my wife would believe.  She would never believe that we ran out of gas.

Rookie Goalies Shine!

Romeoville, IL October 14, 2016  Attendance: 23
REDS  9, Whites  7

Stump, the Duffer Goalie in Chief sent out a plea for goalies on Wednesday.  He had no volunteers, so Beak sent out the word and Commander Ken asked his son Jack if he wanted to play goalie.  He said, "I would love to!"  Over at Bolingbrook Glass, Jeff went over to Brian and told him that he was playing goalie.  (Jeff is his boss)  Brian has been playing hockey for less than 2 years.  His first time on the ice was at the Joe Louis Arena in 2015.  Brian was an all star 3rd basemen in high school so he was used to catching shots with a glove and taking line drives off of his chest, so he borrowed the Bear's pads and strapped them on with plenty of advice from guys who never played goalie.  We all owe Jack and Brian a big thank you!  Both goalies made some great saves early and it took a while until the goals started to come.

The Reds had 3 right wings who did the most damage.  GI Joe and Steve the Hammer had 2 goals each and Beak was the 3rd right winger who got assists just for getting off of the ice.  Tommy Z and Monet Mike each had 2 goals and T&A had one before twisting his knee.  He missed a shift and got right back out there. 

Whites goals were scored by Drago Evans on an assist to Lil' Bill.  His Brother in law, BBTW  scored one too.  Commander Ken  scored an Incest goal on his son from a tough angle with an assist to the Double U man.  Our Referee in chief Ryan would have washed it out.  Guest  John "Double U Man"Schuurman scored on an assist from Lil' Bill Conti.  V-Man, Billy Conti  and Grandpa Ken each had one goal.  Ken flipped a nice back hand shot over Jack's stacked pads.  (Jack learned how to do that fast)  Jack Kroll said after period 2, "Dad, the two worst guys out here scored on me - you and Evans."  We had a great turnout at the Kilt and Brittany came over to thank us for voting for her to be the 2017 Tilted Kilt Calendar Girl.

Perfect Attendance: Beak, Fruitcake, Magoo, Monet Mike and Terry.
