Duffer News

Battle of the Hawrysios!

Romeoville, IL February 3, 2017  Attendance: 20
On Friday the 13th, Eddie the Anvil shut out the his son Nick DeJesus and the Whites. Nick was over served before that game and had several Klinger Krashes.  Ever since that day Nick has faced non stop "Russian Ribbing" from his dad and sisters.  DCFS would call it child abuse.  This week, a sober Nick came out with a vengeance that kept Speed Racer Jeff busy.  It was fun watching 2 skilled players going all out.  Nick had one memorable rush that had his Dad down with the top shelf open, but he skinned the crossbar and then he went spinning out of control until he crashed into the boards.  That crash would qualify for the Klinger Krash

Legendary January Birthday boys, T&A and Anvil.

Award if only we could get him to come to the picnic.  Steve the Hammer had a crash in the same spot a little later.  He came off of the ice, but was ready to go on his next shift.  V-Man put the Anvil in a foul mood when he blew a shot past him in the first minute of play.  The Reds opened periods 2 and 3 with quick goals by T&A and TO respectively.  Monet Mike made it 1-1 when his brother Jeff sprung him for a breakaway goal.  Speed Racer Jeff gave the Reds a 2-1 lead.  The Czar and "TO" extended the lead to 4-1 with solo goals, but Commander Ken made it 4-2 in the closing minutes.  The Bear made a great save on TO's shot with 6 seconds left in the period.  Jeff took the puck and raced up ice at his own goalie as the clock wound down.  The Anvil saw Jeff coming at him and he signaled to bring it on!  Jeff cranked one past Eddie just as the horn sounded giving him 2 goals, one for each team.  T&A beat Nick DeJesus to the puck on the opening 2nd period faceoff. He split the defense and beat the Bear to give the Reds a little breathing space.  The Commander answered that goal with his second tally to get the Whites close again.  Midway through the 2nd, Speed Racer got the puck off in the corner and looked to feed his grandpa Beak who was suddenly surrounded by 3 white jerseys.  His first pass was picked off, but the puck came back to him, so he threaded the second pass to his dear old grandpa who was able to poke it into the 4 hole for a 6-4 lead.  Nick DeJesus beat his Dad with a high hard one to make it 6-5.  Tom "TO" O'Connor started the 3rd period with a quick goal right off of the puck drop.  Nick and Rob Ziv made it 7-7, but the Anvil shut the door after that as his teammates scored 2 fluky

goals.  Jeff passed one to the front of the net, where Bill BTW deflected it past his own goalie.  Monet Mike topped that with a shot that hit our new 62 year old Duffer prospect, "Crabs".  The puck floated up into the air and over the Bear's shoulder to give Eddie and the Reds a 9-7 win.

We presented Ania with a Duffer Calendar Girl plaque.

Bill BTW was wearing his Brady Bunch shirt.

Rob Z was buying beers (Above) and Steve Brought us another Greg. (Below)

We said farewell to Ania, by naming her our Duffer Calendar Calendar Girl.

We had a Hawk come to breakfast. Whenever that happens, we save on birdseed. (Nice Beak)

(Left) January Birthday Boys. (Above) 3 years ago, we went to see Ryan and Ohio State beat the Badgers in Madison.

The Lopatkas scored five goals with another Lopatka serving as a referee.
