Welcome to

Attendance problem continues.

We had only 15 skaters with warm weather.

I invited some Wags players, so maybe we can get two lines.

TZ and Luke Sink the Reds!

Romeoville, IL February 17, 2017  Attendance: 17
Friday evening started with a bad crash on I-55 that made it hard to get to the rink.  We started the game with only one goalie as Backup Bruce was stuck in the huge backup.  Matt the Ball Pin Hammer was dressed and ready to play forward when he was told to call his Mom and ask her to bring his goalie pads.  He removed his equipment and got ready to put on goalie stuff when it arrived.  As luck would have it, Bruce arrived before Matt's pads did, so he called his Mom and said, "never mind Mom".

We toasted Gina on her birthday.

So Matt got dressed for the second time and joined his Dad on the Red team.  While Bruce was dressing, we were playing with a face down net.  We have done that in the past when there was a "goalie malfunction".  You get credited with a goal when you hit the "Top shelf netting" that is now on the ice.  Tommy Z and his nephew Luke were able to score by doing that.  V-Man hit the crossbar, but that does not count for a goal. Steve the Hammer and Joe "Drago" Evans scored 1st period goals by beating the Bear who was the White goalie.  Bruce was ready to play when we started the second period, so we had 2 goalies and a 2-2 tie.  Magoo showed up in the second period, but he was too tired to get dressed, so he just coached a little, gave some legal advice and went home without having a beer.  The Reds took a 5-4 lead in the second period with goals by Rob Ziv and the Hammer scoring 2 more for a Hat Trick.  John "Double U" Schuuman and Luke the Nef scored one each for the Whites.  The 3rd period started with TZ taking the opening face-off and roofing a tying goal past Bruce.  Luke the Guest and V-Man gave the Whites a 2 goal lead that lasted until the final minute when Matt was unleashed and told that he could score a goal.   He did that and made it 7-6.  Matt was told to get another goal and tie the score but he was foiled with 3 seconds left to play.  My Stat Man, T&A, swears that he saw Nephew Luke score 4 goals, but TZ and Luke denied that.  T&A reports that TZ assisted on Luke's first 2 goals giving him a 4 point night and T&A said Luke tipped in his one timer for his final goal.  Tommy Z has had to miss some games due to a Dad dance and weeks with his daughters falling on Duffer games.  He solved that problem by bringing his kids, brother in law and sister in law to the game where they were treated to an exciting game.  They were cheering every time Tommy and Luke scored.

Final Score: Barron's Whites 7, Reds 6.
Or 8-6 if Luke will claim 4 goals.

Tommy Z brought the kids and a kid sitter to cheer him on.

Drago scored early and The Hammer had a hat trick.

We toasted Gina as she turned 21.

Anna was our waitress.

The Czar was 48.99 and Beak was 76.98.

Brian Kraft brought his daughter's team in from Anchorage.

The girls only allowed 1 goal in the first 4 games in Madison!

Klinger and I had another great time in Madison

Tina Granato's daughter, Baylee, had a hat trick.

We went straight from Madison to Joliet to watch my grandson Luke's team play my Great granddaughter Carmela's team.  They each scored a goal!

T&A (Above and Right) was there doing the color commentary on local TV. He interviewed Luke and gave the Duffers a plug.

Grace and Audrey were there cheering for Luke.

T&A had ear protection to prevent distractions from Klinger and me.  He did a nice job, He could have a new career in the media.

George Carlin's Views on Aging
11-23-9
Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

'How old are you?' 'I'm four and a half!' You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

'How old are you?' 'I'm gonna be 16!' You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life .. . You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30 ; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; 'I Was JUST 92.'

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. 'I'm 100 and a half!'
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them.'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil'sname is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is..

10.Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

The Zagorskis scored five goals while filling the stands with fans.
