 Miller Does His Magic!

November 2nd
The Beak-Bor-Thor line was united for the first time this year and they clicked on the first shift as Hacksaw pressured the Blues defense, until they coughed the puck up to Beak.  Beak flipped it to Thor who beat Eddie "The Anvil" for a quick meaningful goal.  That turned out to be the winner as Tweedy shut out the meaningful Blues.

Beer nuts was quick to complain that the Blues only had 5 meaningful players, but then again, Beer-Nuts is quick to complain about everything. He even complains that his name doesn’t appear in the Duffer News more often. He knows all he has to do to get his name in the Duffer News is pour Beak a beer at Platos, but he complained about that because it cost him $15.00 to go to Platos, he even complained about the chicken wings!  (Yea, the ones Klinger loves.)

The Peace making King made a suggestion that we move to Bono's so that the cost of getting your name in the Duffer News could be reduced.  Now you can buy Beak a beer for only $3.00.  My son liked the new place because he and his sons ate and drank for under $7.00.  It cost me $23 for a Beef Combo and a round of beers.

Thanks to Tom Morgan for a great article last week, but he couldn't make it 2 weeks in a row, as he broke his toe at home on a slippery floor. His wife told him to be careful because the floor was just waxed.  Tom said, "Who are you talking to?  I'm a hockey player."  Then he slipped and broke his toe.  That story is hard to believe.  Here is what I think happened.  Tommy went home last week after scoring and tried to celebrate with a swan dive off of the dresser, and he didn't heed the warning from the Duffer Advisor, published in a 1980s Duffer news.
The warnings, as they appeared in that early publication, published at Pawnee Motors.

  1. Take off your skates.
  2. If you open drawers to climb up on the dresser, make sure you close the top drawer.
  3. Do not attempt the Dresser Swan Dive if you have a canopy bed, unless you hook your heels on top of the canopy and do a one and a half gainer.
I think Tom caught his Toe in the open top drawer and missed his landing.  He probably has a few stitches on his chin.

New Orleans Roadtrip

The King has started to get a list together for a ride on a train to the city of New Orleans.  The Rivermen play there on Friday, March 15, 2002.  The New Orleans Brass plays other teams on Thursday and Saturday.  We will need help from the Rivermen if we want to Skate on the Big Rink.  (Probably the only Rink in town)
We can start by having a nice turn out in Peoria.  Jason, the President and the owners have been asking for us.
It looks like we have more than 10 players to go to Peoria on Saturday November 17.  We will play on Saturday afternoon, then watch the Rivermen on Saturday Night, we can also see a Sunday afternoon game on the 18th. If you are not sure that you want to go to Peoria, just pop the Duffer CD II into your CD-ROM drive and watch the Peoria slide and music show, you will sign up for a trip as soon as you finish.  We need a better show than last time.
