December 1, 2011, Backdoor B's Vs. Wags at Center Ice The last time we faced the Backdoor B's we took a beating, so it looked like we were in for a long night when
we were down 2 goals in the first 6 minutes. Back up goalie, Dan "The Man" Lopatka, faced 15 shots in the first period. Jon "Woody" Woodring cut the lead in half early in the second period with an unassisted goal. One minute later, Tom "Dimples" Zagorski, set up Jay "Road runner" DeMario for the tying goal with 10:26 left in period 2. Matt "The Mugger" Murzyn scored 2 minutes later to give us the lead. Kevin

and Woody were credited with assists. Tony "The Tiger" Letto took a pass from Russ "Porn Star" Reel and scored to give us a 4-2 lead with 8:20 left in the period. The 2 goal lead only lasted a minute when the Hoss brothers teamed up to score, but Woody got the 2 goal lead back with 4:35. Tommy "Black" Smith and number 12 got the assists. (Josh "Dinger" Biddinger may have been #12) Woody opened the third period with
an early goal to make it 6-3, but that goal woke up the Backdoors and set off a flurry of shots that had Lopatka facing more rubber than a dead skunk on the freeway. The Hoss Brothers struck again to cut the lead to 6-4, then they made it interesting when Woody was sent to the sin bin with 2:14 left in the game.
Charlie Hoss scored a power play goal with 90 seconds left to play. They pulled their goalie and peppered Lopatka until The Roadrunner flipped a clearing pass all the way down that avoided icing when it went into the open net with 13 seconds left in the game. That goal gave the Wags a thrilling 7-5 win. Jay's clinching goal was one that has the coach screaming "no, no, way to go". Jay has told his high school players many times, "Never shoot at the open net until you get to the red center line because it stops the clock and gives your opponents a face off in your zone if you miss the net."
Wags were out shot 42-22
