Killer Sandowski Clubs the Seals!

May 29, 2012, Blazin Seals Vs. Wags at Center Ice
This game was made possible by the Cocksmen who couldn't get up the cash needed to play in the league.  We were scheduled to play the Cocksmen on May 24th but they were still smarting from the 13-7 beating they took from us on April 30, so they decided to use their hockey money for Viagra.  The Blazin Seals were scheduled to play the Cocksmen on May 29, so we got the call to play the Seals for a "rubber game".  They beat us in the season opener on April 11, so we returned the favor and beat them 9-6 on May 3rd.

Ed "The Wall" Waghorne had a great game holding the Seals scoreless in the 3rd period.

The rematch turned out to be a thriller that was not decided until the last minute of the game.  Gary "The Inhibiter" Hibbler and Chris "Mad Man" Murzyn  teamed up to set up Kyle "Killer" Sandowski who scored a power play goal that gave us an early lead just 2 and a half minutes into the game. Killer made it 2-0 half way through the first period with an assist from Vic or Nic (I can't read Ed's handwriting) Kakruwski.  That 2 goal lead only lasted less than a minute when Eaton scored to make it 2-1.  Handsome Rancic turned Killer's only pass of the game into a 3-1 lead in the closing minutes of the first period.  Nineteen seconds into the second period, Eaton cut our comfortable lead to 3-2. Killer got his hat trick a minute later when he was set up by Matt Swastek and Rancic. That 4-2 lead felt good until Ed suffered a bad 8 seconds that started with 3:23 left to play in the second period when Turner scored on a deflection. On the ensuing face off, Ed came out to play a lose puck that ended up in the net at the 3:31 mark. Ed was not rattled because he had to come up with 2 great saves in the next 2 minutes. The game stayed 4 to 4 as Ed kicked out every shot for the rest of the game.  He was credited with 33 saves.  We had to kill a 5 on 3 penalty for almost a minute when Rancic got called for a hook and Ian Brady followed him into the box for holding. Once we killed those penalties off, It looked like we were headed for a 4-4 tie until Kevin "Smooth as" Glass set up Sandowski the Seal Killer for his 4th goal! There was only 44 seconds left to play when Kyle scored that game winner.  Rancic scored an empty net goal from center ice with .04/100 of a second left to play.  That goal pushed the Seals over their tolerance level, so they got uglier.

Locker room talk turned to smoking cartoon characters

This site has a clip of Fred, Barney, and Wilma lighting up.

If I told you the original network run of The Flintstones (1960-1966) was sponsored by a cigarette maker and that you could watch the main characters smoking Winstons at the end of the show, you probably wouldn’t believe me. This animated series was a prime-time show, considered adult fare in 1960, so I guess nobody thought any better of it.

FlintstonesWith a large audience of youngsters tuning in at 8:30pm, was this proof that the tobacco companies were targeting younger potential smokers decades before Joe Camel? The Flintstones could also be seen selling beer in commercials, for what that’s worth.
