Johnny B Gets his First Win!

Romeoville, IL February 21, 2014  Attendance: 19

Third Quarter Moon took it's toll!

The Anvil always has a problem dealing with the Full Moon, so he called in "sick" on game day last week.  This week, we had a 3rd quarter waning moon and he still called in sick, so Rags is getting used to the drill.  Get Jimmy Bones' pads and call Johnny B.  Johnny instantly answered, "I'm in!"  We had a great game with the lead exchanging hands several times.  V-Man skated like he was on a mission to get sharp for our games in Ann Arbor.  He scored on a break away that was assisted by The Czar.  He gave the Whites a 2 -0 lead with another mad rush.  Tommy Z figured that he better get the Reds back in the game after trying to set up Beak with his Carpal Tunnel foam padded stick, but the Brain was on his game and saved everything, so TZ gave him a chin music slap shot that made it 2-1.

Our hero, Johnny B Saves us again.

Bill BTW made a Tunnel Vision end to end rush then blew it by The Brain to tie the game it 2-2.  Jim "Rags" Ragland  answered that goal with a low wrist shot that handcuffed Johnny B.  That lead only lasted 95 seconds until Tommy Z took a beautiful stretch pass from T&A and beat the Brain with a blast.  Bill BTW gave the Reds a 4-3 lead with a Polar Vortex (He's Canadian you know) blast, but V-Man the Villain scored again and picked up his hat trick.  Johnny B fumbled a puck in the crease and handed it off to Thor who banged it in to give the Whites a 5-4 lead.  Tommy Z almost tied it up when he sent a knee high wrist shot toward the net.  Our guest Tom Clarke made a beautiful tip and almost beat his own goalie.  The Brain made a great save on the redirected puck.  Tom C then got a break away, but he stepped on the puck and almost did a face plant.  TZ figured if V-Man could get a hat trick, he could too, so he made a rush and backhanded it past the Brain to tie the game with 2 minutes to play.  That goal set the stage for the prettiest goal of the game.  The Reds changed lines and the fresh legs of Terry and Mini Wheezer paid off when Mini fired an ice hugging pass toward the net where Tumblin Terry came rushing in from the point and flipped it up and over the Brain for the game winning goal that gave Johnny B the win!

Congratulations to Johnny B on his first Duffer Win..  6-5 win.  The Whites picked up the Meaningful Win 1-0 on Thor's goal.
