the lead in half with a wrist shot that caught the top of the net. 30 seconds later, Chris "Mad Man" Murzyn fired a perfect pass to Killer who tied the game with a one timer that squirted through the goalie's 5 hole. Number 4 (Who was not listed on the score sheet) broke the tie with 3:27 left in the first period. Wags came storming back in the second period by scoring 3 unanswered goals in 2 and a half minutes. Starting at the 12:12 mark, "Batty" Max Batchy converted a pass from Jake Bell "Ringer" then Murzyn scored an unassisted goal just 74 seconds later. 78 seconds after that, Jay "Road Runner" DeMaria scored another unassisted goal to give Wags a 5-3 lead with 9:38 left in the second period. Two minutes later, the Snipers cut the lead to one goal, but Jeff "Speed Racer" Lopatka got that goal back just 16 seconds later. The score sheet has number 21 (Jay DeMaria) as the goal scorer, but that was impossible, because Jay was
clotheslined as he crossed the blue line. The puck went to Jeff who fired a wrist shot past the goalie while Jay was in a daze lying face down on the ice. A minute or 2 later when Jay slowly got to his feet and shook the cobwebs out of his brain, I yelled, "Tell him we scored, he'll feel better!" Jay slowly made his way to the bench, but never played another shift. He went in for an early shower at the start of the third period. Early in the third period, The Snipers cut the lead to 6-5, but the resilient Wags came up with an immediate answer when Kevin "Smooth as" Glass teamed up with the Mad Man to get that 2 goal lead back just 17 seconds later at the 10:55 mark. Ed "The Wall" Waghorn put on a goalie clinic stopping everything that the Snipers could fire at him. The Snipers pulled their goalie and made it 7-6 with 46 seconds left to play. The Snipers applied unrelenting pressure for remaining seconds, but Ed, "Uncle Dan" Lopatka and Tony "The Tiger" Letto were able to preserve the exciting win.
Ed "The Wall" Waghorn was
the #1 Star. Woodring, Tommy Z and Jeff rang up a few posts.
