After playing his first game as a goalie for the Duffers, Jeff's friend Miguel became a goalie critic.
After watching the MCL goalie warm up, he said, "this goalie sucks." I said, you can't say that unless he gives up 13 goals, since you got rung up 12 times on Friday the 13th." He laughed and started rooting for some Rags goals. Number 69, DWAN scored 4 minutes into the game to give MLC the early lead. When I looked at the score sheet I started wondering if that was a guy or another acronym. Wikipedia has MCL being Multi-level cell, a type of flash memory. Who names a team after that? the MCL goalie stopped one Wags shot after another until Noname Mano took a pass from Tony the Tiger Letto and scored to tie the game. Manno and Letto teamed up 3 more times in the next 4 minutes to get Manno a first period Hat Trick. Tommy Zagorski picked up 2 assists on that Hat. That would have been a natural hat trick, but Killer Kyle Sandowski got into the act with an unassisted spin-a-ramma goal after 2 of Manno's goals. It looked like Wags would have a 4-1 lead going into the second period, but Nick Scola blasted a slap shot in the final second that was redirected up into the honey jar with 0.4 seconds left to play in the period to make it Wags 4, MLC 2 after one period. Wags put 4 unanswered goals on the board in the second period. 2 by Letto, one by Manno and a short handed goal by Mike "Has a Name" Miller. Wags 8, MLC 2. The third period went scoreless for 7 minutes until number 11 made it 8-3. Miller, Letto and Alo Olindo answered with 3 goals in the next 3 minutes. That gave Miller and Letto hat tricks. Letto also had 3 assists to pick up a play maker award. The scorekeeper was getting writers cramp or maybe Carpal Tunnel Syndrome so she quit recording assists. Jeff "Speed Racer" Lopatka, his uncle Dan had several unrecorded assists. Chris Schultz also was screwed out of 2 assists when he had 2 of his shots tipped in. Wags General
